ODMA CEO Amanda was recently inspired by the launch of SeeWay, a groundbreaking initiative by Guide Dogs, held in Sydney.
SeeWay is a free, national, holistic support network designed to assist people with low vision—especially those who may not qualify for traditional government programs or who haven’t previously reached out for help. This platform aims to fill a crucial gap in accessible, local support, making a real difference for people who often go under-supported.
One of the standout moments from the event was seeing the new online tool in action. Developed with accessibility front of mind, the tool is responsive, intuitive, and designed to support users regardless of their level of digital confidence or experience. It’s already proving effective, with early users reporting high trust in the service and finding it genuinely helpful.
It’s also encouraging to see ODMA friends such as the Macular Disease Foundation and Glaucoma Australia collaborating on this initiative, amplifying its reach and impact.
A special mention goes to Ben Pettingill, who delivered an inspiring speech on the night and brought the importance of accessible support to life.
SeeWay is more than just a tool—it’s a valuable resource for the optical industry to refer patients and community members to. It’s practical, empowering, and most importantly, personalised to individual needs.
Kudos to the team at SeeWay for leading the way in inclusive vision care and creating a platform that truly serves the community.
