Eyecare Plus is a member owned, unlisted public company founded in 2000 by Port Macquarie
optometrist Dr Anthony Hanks. It provides business development assistance to licensed independent full service optometry practices across Australia.

Anthony Hanks as owner or partner in a number of optometry practices in NSW and QLD was seeking ways to improve the business performance of his practices. His personal business experience combined with his involvement in the pioneering industry group, the Australian Optometric Panel (AOP) led him to develop and document what is now the considerable intellectual property of Eyecare Plus.

This intellectual property (IP) includes registered trademarks Eyecare Plus® and a "clear choice"®, the ractice Handbook, business benchmarks, individual member websites and a wide array of shared esources. This IP is the foundation material of Eyecare Plus.

With its practices nationwide, Eyecare Plus is the second largest business support organisation for independent optometry in Australia. The practice of independent optometry in Australia is under constant threat. Over 50% of Australia's optometric business is in the hands of two (foreign) corporations. Many optometrists see this shift to corporate ownership as a significant threat to clinical independence, but at the same time recognise the capability of those corporations in extracting the best financial returns from the industry.

Eyecare Plus provides independent optometry practices the tools to develop a successful business while maintaining excellence and independence in clinical practice.
