Colab to release Anthony Lister frame at ODMA 2011
Curated in Sydney by Carl Tindall and Jonathon Miller, COLAB hand picks artists and throws them gently into the deep end to design frames with full creative freedom. COLAB lets the artists' imagination run wild with no constraint and no rules to follow and the artists love it. In their first season COLAB included designs from P.A.M., Eboy, Rockin' Jellybean, Neadson Control Centre and Geoff McFetridge.
COLAB have continued into their fifth season's release with a 'limited edition' handmade approach and artistic collaborators Deanne Cheuk, Stefan Marx, French, Kill Pixie and The Presets/Zawada to name a few. Each artist is briefed to create their own style that is then rolled out in a short run of 1000 frames and sold internationally.
For 2011, COLAB has an inspired line up in the pipeline including canvas heavyweight Anthony Lister. The release of Lister's feature frame 'Vacation on the Sun' is imminent; he draws inspiration from the superhero figures omnipresent in his current work and by the conception of universe tide line theory.
In keeping with the artistic innovation they are known for, COLAB will celebrate their collaborative history with an exhibition of art and eyewear titled '1 of 1' at the Sydney Theatre Company in May.'1 of 1' will be a nod to the integrity of an original idea; the exhibition will showcase the work of 16 artists across mixed media including painting, sketches, prints and photography, where the COLA frames designed by each artist will be shown alongside their work.
